He Restores My Soul

I will try to do 2 sentences tonight. I am on the fourth sentence of the verse now. He restores my soul. This is one of my favorite sentences of this verse. It is one of my favorite sentences because it tells you what he can do. If your soul is corrupt he can restore it to make it something beautiful. You can come to him with as much shame and guilt and he'll still take you back. Now for the fifth. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. To me, this means that he wants us to be good Christians and follow his ways. But, he also realizes how hard it can sometimes be. So, he's there to guide us so we won't make many mistakes in our Christian walk. He wants us to be people we can look up to because we wear the name Christian. He wants the way we look and act to be like a Christian because he doesn't want something unpleasant to have his name. For his name's sake, he tries to guide everyone. These two sentences tie together. The way he guides you in the paths of righteousness is by restoring your soul. You won't listen and obey him if your soul is full of devilish things. So, he must clean it out and make it pure in order for you to follow in his footsteps.

Green Pastures and Quiet Waters

Now we are on the next three sentences of the verse: He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the quiet waters. These two sentences automatically put a calming feeling in your mind. Ahh! Beautiful green pastures....fields and fields of green. Ahh! Radiant quiet waters...big blue oceans of cooling waves. These two sentences to me mean that Jesus can put us in the most calming positions. No matter how chaotic life may get we can always have quiet and peaceful moments during our lives. Tell me what you think this verse means. You can e-mail me at gwhiz95@yahoo.com.

Besides today's bible study, today was an amazing day. My best friend, Nandi, and I were able to talk to a small group of 6th grade girls at our school. We talked to them about guys and gossip. It went so well! During lunch, some of the girls even told Nandi and I how they already used our advice to handle a situation and it worked. The feeling of being role models to girls that are younger than me is a big deal in my life. I have a little sister and I already have to make sure that I make wise decisions. I know she's watching me and I would like to be a person she can look up to and would like to be. I want to be the type of person that people can come to for advice. Today, I was able to do something that I love. I was able to share my personal experiences with girls that look up to me. The sparkle in their eyes showed they were listening and actually taking it in. Nandi and I made a great connection with the girls, by making it an interactive conversation. They even laughed. We used bible verses to make points and had the girls interpret the verse in their own words. It was a great experience and Nandi and I have made plans to have another great discussion next Friday. We both enjoyed it very much and hope that we can give the girls some great advice that they can use in their daily lives.

The Lord Is My Sheperd

For the first night of this bible study, we will talk about the first sentence of the verse. The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want. God can be called so many things, from Jehoviah, all the way down to "My Rock". In this Bible Verse, he is referred to as "My Shepherd". What does this mean to you? To me, it means that he protects us from harm, like a Shepherd protects his sheep from wolves. God is the Shepherd, Christians are the sheep, and sin are the wolves. He protects us from sin. But what does it mean "I shall not want"? Why would you not want a guardian to protect you from danger? This to me, means that he is so great and full of mercy that we sometimes tend to believe we are not good enough to be loved by someone so magnificent. We tend to believe that he is only there for the righteous who follow his footsteps daily. But, Jesus came to the world to save the sinners, not those who were already righteous. We sin a lot!! Though God is there to protect us from most danger, he still leaves us in control of our lives. We have the ability to think for ourselves and know if something is right our wrong. I think we don't want God to be our protection because we are afraid of hurting him and doing something wrong. We are afraid they we will be hurt and we will begin to think that God is not there. You may sometimes feel as though God has abandoned you. But he hasn't. The first sentence of this psalm will always be true. He will always be our Shepherd and we, the sheep. He will always love us and take care of us no matter what dilemma we are faced with. In conclusion, this sentence tells us that when we feel that there is no one around to help us and we feel all alone, remember God is there to be our strength and protection. For, he is our Shepherd we shall not want. Tell me your thoughts on this idea of go being our "Shepherd". What do you think?

Shall Follow Me All The Days of My Life

I'm sure we are all very familiar with the very popular bible verse from Psalm 23 which states,

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,

For you are with me
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Well, today my bible teacher Coach Hawley had the class do artwork dealing with the verse. We were to pick our favorite part of the verse, write it down on our nice colored paper and decorate the paper with markers and crayons. My personal favorite part of the verse was,"....Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life"...." I am not really sure why those words appealed to me so much. I guess the thought of knowing that Go'd's goodness and love will be with me no matter fills my heart with cheer. The very thought of knowing that no matter how many times I may disappoint God and disobey him he will always have a special unconditional love for me fills me up with great joy. He is so great that he is able to give me along with billions of other people an overflowing abundance of love and goodness, that he gives out nonstop. How great is the God we serve!

  • SPECIAL NEWS!!
This verse means a lot to us Christians. Therefore, I plan to begin an online bible study on my blog. On this online bible study blog, we will discuss for the next few days the importance of this Psalm and what it means. Stay tuned!!

Not Done Yet

This is the time of the year when everyone is ready for the summertime. We start off our school year strong but as we get to the end we begin to slag off. We stop putting in that extra studying time and instead go out and swim in our pools or go ride bikes with neighborhood friends. Believe it or not, school isn't out yet. We still have to give our last couple of weeks our all and all. I personally don't like the end of the school year. You're so close to that honor roll streak and you're just scared you're going to mess it up somehow. Also, you don't do your homework. But be careful, your A or B can quickly turn into a grade you don't like because of your laziness.

My best friends and I have made a promise to each other this marking period. We made a deal to make all A's or we we would give up something we really liked. I don't just like but LOVE starbursts. So, my friends decided to put me through torture. If I don't make all A's, the first marking period of the next school year I can't eat not one starburst!! Therefore, I am definitely making all A's. I also came up with torturing consequences for my friends too. I think it is great how we are encouraging each other to do well in school. I have a great group of friends whom I love very much.

Best of Luck

Hello everyone! One of my favorite teachers at Westbury Christian is going through a very tragic time. I am not going to say what this particular tragic time is but please be with him and his family. I will pray for him and hopefully so will you. Best of wishes to Coach Hawley!
